We clean it with a surface cleaner rather than a wand, so the pass is even and there are no overlapping arcs — then treat the oil and tire staining separately, because rinsing does not lift those.

Why we never clean a driveway with a wand
A wand sprays in a fan, so cleaning a wide surface means sweeping it side to side and leaving overlapping arcs. Those stripes are the signature of a cheap concrete cleaning and they are permanent if the pressure etched the surface. A surface cleaner passes at a fixed height and leaves no pattern.
What hard surface cleaning covers
Broom-finish and stamped concrete, brick and concrete pavers, exposed aggregate, block and stone flatwork. Each takes a different pressure and a different approach at the joints, which is the whole reason the material gets identified before the machine comes off the truck rather than after.
Oil, tire marks and rust
None of these rinse away, because they are in the concrete rather than on it. Oil needs a degreaser and dwell time to draw it back out, tire marks need a solution that breaks down the rubber transfer, and rust needs a dedicated treatment. Each is a separate step, applied before the general clean.
Pavers, and the sand in the joints
Pressure aimed into a paver joint blows the sand out, and pavers without joint sand shift, settle and grow weeds far faster. We clean pavers at lower pressure and angled across the joints rather than into them, and we will tell you when a driveway genuinely needs re-sanding afterwards.
The drains in and around the flatwork
Many driveways have a channel drain across the apron or a catch basin at the low corner, and cleaning a large surface sends silt straight toward them. We clear those inlets as part of the job rather than washing a season of grit into the drainage system and leaving it there.
Sealing, and whether you need it
Sealer helps on pavers and on decorative or stamped concrete, and does comparatively little for ordinary broom-finish driveways. We do not upsell it by default. Where it does make sense, the surface has to be fully clean and fully dry first, which is a separate visit rather than the same afternoon.

Driveway cleaning questions
How long does it take to clean a driveway?
A standard two-car driveway is usually two to three hours including the pre-treatment and the oil work. A long or heavily stained drive, or one with pavers that need care at every joint, can take most of a day. The pre-treatment dwell time is a real part of that.
Will cleaning remove the oil stains completely?
Usually it lightens them considerably rather than erasing them. Oil penetrates concrete, so a degreaser has to draw it back out before anything is rinsed. Fresh stains often come out entirely; a stain that has been there for years is honestly a reduction, and we will say so before starting.
Can you clean a paver driveway without ruining the joints?
Yes, by using lower pressure and working across the joints rather than into them. Some sand loss is unavoidable on any paver cleaning, and we will tell you if yours needs re-sanding rather than leaving you to find out when the pavers start shifting.
How often should a driveway be cleaned in Tallahassee?
Every one to two years for most properties, and annually under heavy tree cover. Our humidity and oak litter mean organic growth comes back faster than in a drier climate, and a surface kept on a schedule needs far gentler work each time.
Do you clean the sidewalk and apron too?
