PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

Don't Wait for the Next Storm.

SERVICE AREA

Tallahassee and Leon County

We work across Leon County, FL. Red clay hills, karst geology and a live-oak canopy make drainage here behave unlike the rest of Florida — which is most of why this is the work we do.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What people ask before they call

Why is there standing water in my yard?

Standing water that lingers more than 24 hours after rain usually means the drainage system is not moving water, not that the yard needs regrading. The most common cause is a discharge line packed with silt and roots. We camera the line first, so the fix addresses the actual blockage rather than the symptom.

What causes a yard drain to back up?

Yard drains back up when sediment, leaf pack, or root intrusion narrows the pipe until it cannot carry storm flow. Snaking punches a hole through the blockage; hydro jetting scours the full pipe wall back to its original diameter. We inspect with a camera afterward to confirm the line is actually clear.

Why do my gutters overflow even after cleaning?

If gutters overflow shortly after cleaning, the blockage is usually below the trough. Downspouts and their underground connections hold debris that a gutter scoop never reaches. Clearing the gutter without flushing the downspout leaves the restriction in place, so water backs up at the first heavy rain.

How do you find out what is wrong with an underground drain?

We run a camera through the line and record what it finds: the depth, the material, the slope, and the exact location of any break, offset joint, or root mass. That footage is yours. It means a repair quote points at a specific defect at a measured distance rather than a guess.

What are the black streaks on my roof?

Those streaks are gloeocapsa magma, an algae that feeds on the limestone filler in asphalt shingles and holds moisture against the roof. Pressure washing strips the granules that protect the shingle. Soft washing uses low pressure and a cleaning solution instead, which removes the growth without shortening the roof's life.

Should a driveway be pressure washed or soft washed?

Concrete, pavers and brick take pressure well and clean best with a surface cleaner that keeps the spray even. Siding, painted wood and roofs need soft washing, because pressure drives water behind the surface and damages the finish. Matching the method to the material is most of the job.

Is drainage maintenance worth it, or should I wait until something clogs?

Clearing a drainage system on a schedule costs a fraction of excavating a collapsed line, and it happens on a calendar instead of during a storm. Under a live-oak canopy, gutters and catch basins fill faster than most owners expect. Recurring visits keep the whole path flowing before it fails.
